BALLET 

​

Ballet is the technical foundation of all dance styles as it combines elegance, grace, and precision. Each class with begin with barre work, moving into center work and across the floor exercises. Dancers will learn proper terminology, correct body alignment, and technical foundations to use in every other form of dance. *Ballet is required for dancers in lyrical and jazz.

LYRICAL

Lyrical is a story telling form of dance that incorporates ballet and jazz technique. Pretty, fluid movements work with song lyrics and accompaniment to interpret an expression or a story.

CONTEMPORARY

​

Contemporary dance is an interpretive dance form that incorporates technique from ballet, lyrical, jazz, and modern styles. Modern explore movement beyond the strict rules of ballet and modern. Self-expression and storytelling are key components of contemporary dance.

JAZZ

​

Jazz is a quick and energetic dance form that incorporates ballet technique with quick footwork and various leaps and turns. Dancers will experience warms up and stretches, body isolations, across the floor, and combinations. Choreography will be based around multiple styles of jazz including classic, musical theatre, and jazz funk.

MUSICAL THEATRE

​

Musical theatre is a theatrical combination of songs, dancing, and acting. Students will focus on the dance aspect but will also study the songs and character traits of popular characters from contemporary and classic theatre pieces. Dancers will learn original Broadway choreography and learn new routines to songs chosen from the musical they are currently studying. 

​

 

HIP HOP 

​

Hip hop is a street influenced style that is becoming more and more popular due to music videos and concert back up dancers. Dancing to popular, high energy songs, dancers will explore their individual style while learning intricate choreography and creating freestyle movements. Learn breaking basics, how to “sit in the pocket” of the music, do quick footwork, and find your groove.
